Monday 29th

To create our 'Halloween Treats Container' you can use an old oatmeal container or Hobby Lobby has a tall square or round paper mache' container. The containers at Hobby Lobby are inexpensive, less than $5.00. Tissue paper will be applied to the outside of both the container and the lid. Then the container will be based with Indian Yellow and the lid with Norwegian Orange. Further instructions will be given in class. Tips

Mistakes
When you've made a mistake, spit on your paper towel is the handiest tool to remove it quickly.

Floated Color
Use the largest brush possible for the job. I tell my students all the time and they can quote me, "The corner of the brush is the same size on every brush."

Liner Work
Thin lines require that you do several things.
1. Use a quality liner brush, in excellent condition.
2. The consistency of your paint should be the consistency of ink.
3. The brush should be full of paint.
4. As you paint lines, move slowly, not fast, and hold your brush handle straight up in a vertical position.
5. Often people can't see-they think they can, but they really don't know if the point of the brush is making contact with the surface or not. Using an OptiVISORs or surgical loops can be used right over glasses. They are massive magnifying glasses that really make it possible to see the point of the brush making contact with the surface.
